Kratie is a charming, off-the-beaten-track town on the Mekong River with a rich legacy of French colonial architecture and perfect area for nature lovers and those seeking an authentic Cambodian experience. It is also the best spot to see the endangered Irrawaddy dolphins in their natural habitat. There are a number of bicycle tours long the river banks, often crossing the Mekong by ferry and including islands such as Koh Trong and cycling through peaceful rice fields, stilt houses, and temples.
