Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor - a luxury and timeless hotel blending colonial elegance with Cambodian heritage
Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor stands as a timeless symbol of colonial elegance and Cambodian heritage in the heart of Siem Reap. The hotel originally opened in 1932, and was the first luxury hotel in the area, catering to explorers visiting the Angkor Wat temples.
Designed by French architect Ernest Hébrard, the hotel blends French Art Deco with Khmer architectural elements, offering a unique and refined atmosphere. Over the decades, it has hosted notable figures such as Charlie Chaplin, Jacqueline Kennedy, and Princess Margaret.
Following a comprehensive restoration, it re-opened in 1997 under Raffles Hotels & Resorts, preserving its historic charm while introducing modern comforts.
The hotel is situated on a 15-acre landscape, and features 119 rooms, suites and villas each combining old-world charm with contemporary amenities. Guests can indulge in a range of facilities, including the award-winning Raffles Spa, a 35-meter swimming pool, tennis courts, and a fitness center.
Dining options at Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor are both diverse and exquisite with several bars and restaurants to choose from.
Cafe d’Angkor is open for lunch and supper, providing Asian and international cuisine. 1932 honours Cambodia’s rich culinary legacy, with each flavour telling a tale. It is a wonderful nod to the past, gracefully carried into the present.
The Conservatory, with a piano accompaniment in the evenings, savours traditional afternoon tea or aperitifs in a delightfully relaxed, post-colonial setting with views of the grounds and pool.
Meanwhile the Elephant Bar, named after the traditional form of transportation of a bygone age is renowned for its signature cocktail, Airavate and there is a Poolside Terrace surrounded by fragrant frangipani trees, perfect for light lunches throughout the day, refreshing fruity cocktails, or even a special candlelit dinner.
