The best way to explore the Tanjung Puting National Park and journey deep into the forest, is by cruising along the river aboard a klotok houseboat. Named after the noise that the boat makes as it travels – ‘klok tok tok tok’ – these wooden river boats were traditionally used to transport goods and passengers up and down the river, but many have now been converted into houseboats for tourists.
