Sulawesi Wildlife
Sulawesi is a dream destination for wildlife lovers. There are a lot of endemic species, which means you can only find them here! There are so many beautiful and colourful birds that any birder or photographer will be blown away. Many of the endemic species are endangered and numbers are low, they are protected in National Parks, however it is worth going to see them while you still can. The reefs house an equally beautiful selection of colourful and abundant life.

Sulawesi has a lot of species that only exist on this island. There is the The Maleo Bird, The Babirusa Wild Boar, The Cuscus bear which is a marsupial that resembles a small bear and of course Sulawesi is famous for the black macaque, with their black tuft on the head. It is amazing to be able to go to Sulawesi and see these animals in the natural habitat and the only place they are found in the world. There are also a great number of other animals found in Sulawesi.

There are over 500 bird species in Sulawesi and 90 of them do not live anywhere else in the world, it is birdwatchers paradise! The guides are excellent and very helpful. Any requests you have they will do there best to find these beautiful birds.
Marine Life

Marine life is highly abundant in Sulawesi with over 70% of the indo-western pacific species found here. There are areas to see macro creatures such as nudibranch and seahorses and also areas to enjoy sharks, rays and of course there are plenty of sea turtles.
Buffalo

Buffalo are a big part of the Tana Toraja culture. They are highly respected as the animals that escort the dead to heaven. They are sold in weekly markets and kept with family and very well looked after. They are then sacrificed at funerals. There are a species of small buffalo called Anoa that are native only to Sulawesi, it is believed there are only 5000 left.
