Bali is not just beaches, waterfalls and rice paddies. It is home to some of the most beautiful temples in the world. The temples are a very important part of Balinese culture and a great way to understanding the positive inspiring lifestyles of the Balinese people. Depending on your length of stay it can be difficult to visit all of the temples, but we can help to select the perfect temples for you. Gunung Kawi Temple
Located in Central Bali, the stone hillside is carved with figures of kings and queens from the 11th century. There are some steps down to the temple, so be sure to wear comfy shoes.
Pura Besakih
Located in the east near Mount Agung. This collection of nearly 80 temples makes up Bali’s largest temple complex. Climb to the top for breathtaking views.
Pura Dalem Agung
This temple is located in central Bali and can only be accessed though the Sacred Monkey Forest. A beautiful temple enhanced by the monkeys playing on the walls.
Pura Lempuyang Temple
Also known as the gates to heaven located on Mt. Lempuyang on the west of Bali. This temple requires a hike taking about 1.5 hours each way, but it is well worth the view!
Pura Luhur Uluwatu
This stunning temple balances on a cliff top on the most southern tip of Bali. Waves crash at the base of the cliff and ceremonies such as fire dancing can be enjoyed from the temple.
Pura Taman Ayun
Located in central Bali, this temple houses beautiful shrines dedicated to different Hindu gods.
Pura Taman Saraswati

Located in Ubud in central Bali, this temple is also known as the Water Palace. Great if you don\’t have transport out of Ubud. Also provides a view beautiful lotus ponds and in the evening you can enjoy local dance ceremonies.
Pura Tirta Empul Temple
Located in central Bali this temple was built around a sacred spring. You can bath in the springs to cleanse your body and spirit. Avoid spring time, as locals flock here for meditiation.
Pura Ulun Danu Bratan
One of the most impressive temples in Bali, located on the edge of a lake in Northern Bali. This temple has easy access with no stairs to climb and offers stunning views.
Tanah Lot Temple
The temple in the ocean, located on the south coast. This picturesque temple can only be accessed at low tide. Expect crowds at sunset.
