Fort Printers
The Fort Printers is an elegant private hotel situated in the heart of Galle Fort. Originally an 18th century mansion, the house used to serve as a college, and then a traditional printing company; hence the name Fort Printers. It initially comprised of 5 suites, but now offers a total of 13 suites with the addition of two heritage villas in 2013
Each of the villas may be booked for exclusive use or as separate suites.
The Fort Printers offers an excellent cuisine with no set menu – the chefs plan daily meals based on guests’ preferences, with an imaginative menu made using fresh seafood and organic local produce. The chefs specialise in Mediterranean inspired cuisine, along with traditional Sri Lankan rice and curry. As seafood is aplenty here, sashimi, grilled or seared tuna, prawns, lobster and other fish dishes are to be expected. Guests can eat in the grand dining room which occupies the entire length of the mansion, or the frangipani courtyard that overlooks the narrow lap pool.
This 640 sq ft suite is located on the first floor and has a separate dressing room with WC and copper clad shower.
Located on the first floor, these suites benefit from high ceilings, lovely views and en-suite bathrooms with a copper shower room and celadon-tiled floor.
Located on the ground floor in the frangipani courtyard besides the pool and is the most private. This 560 ft room has an outside sitting area and a spacious bathroom with a separate shower room and an antique bath tub.
54 Pedlar Street consists of 3 suites, whilst 41 Church Street has 5 suites, all ranging from 300-400 sq ft in size. Although these suites are a part of The Fort Printers, they have a feel of a private residence with luxurious four-poster beds, a sofa-bed/chaise lounge, elegant contemporary bathrooms and antique bath tubs. The two villas have a private sitting room with a mini library, an iPod station, guest kitchen with a fully stocked fridge and tea and espresso facilities, as well as a private dining area.
