Tourism is just beginning in Sumbawa, an Indonesian island, located in the middle of the Lesser Sunda Islands, with Lombok to the west, Flores to the east. It is part of the province of West Nusa Tenggara, however negotiations continue by the Indonesian government to look into turning the island into a separate province. The island is a great source of sappanwood, sandalwood and honey. Its savanna-like climate and vast grasslands are used to breed horses and cattle, as well as to hunt deer. The majority of the population works in agriculture.
Below are a selection of our favourite sample itineraries that we have created based on our experiences of travelling extensively throughout Indonesia. As with all our tours, every aspect can be tailor-made to your individual requirements.
