Lombok Trekking
People often think Lombok is all about the beaches and Gili Islands, however travel inland and you will find so much more! You can choose from 20 min walks to 4 day treks and there is so much to explore. The Coastlines are stunning making excellent half or full day walks exploring different bays. Mount Rinjani is the second highest volcano in Indonesia and is not an easy climb but it worth it for the views. There are amazing guides that can take you on some incredible routes around Lombok, giving you insight into the local history, culture and cuisine. Mount Rinjani

Mount Rinjani is 3,726 meters high and located in the north of Lombok. It is not an easy trek, the route to the top takes about 2 days. The first day you trek to a base camp, then early on the second day you do the final hike to the top and get to enjoy the day taking in the lake, hot springs and stunning views, (each location requires more hiking and hills). You will then hike back down on day 3, which offers more stunning views, including waterfalls and the jungle. The temeratures are very hot during the day, with little shelter in some areas and at the top early in the morning it is very cold, so bring the right clothes, guides carry all the food.
Mount Tunak Nature Park

This is a great place to head off and explore. Located on the south coast of Lombok, you can enjoy trekking along the cliffs and having a relaxing break on white sand beaches. Dotted along the coast are small gili which make stunning pictures.
Sembalun Valley

Often used as a start or end point for hiking Mount Rinjani. Semlaun is a great trek by itself. There are two villages Sembalun Lawang and Sembalun Bumbung that you can stay in and get to know the locals. From the villages you can head out on treks to see small traditional villages and huge plantations growing the majority of Lombok’s fruit and vegitables in the rich volcanic soils. Hiking up small hills offers stunning views of the plantations and of Mount Rinjani. Well worth a visit.
Singang Gila and Tiu Kelep Waterfalls

Located in the north of Lombok Singang Gila waterfall is just a 20 minute walk from the town of Senaru. The route passes through jungle, so look out for monkeys and other wildlife. The view of the 40m high fall is just stunning. You can then continue walking another 45 minutes to reach Tiu Kelep, you do have to cross two low rivers to get there so wear water shoes. Both falls are worth the visit.
Tanjung Ringgit

Tanjoung Ringgit is located on the south coast and offers a great cliff walk. The walk length can vary depending on how far you want to go and this can also be done on a bike. You have great sea views to the south and looking north across the island you can see Mount Rinjani. Look out for gun emplacements left behind after the second world war.
Tetebatu Rice Terrace and Waterfall

Located at the base of Mount Rinjani, this trek takes 5-6 hours for a round trip. You can enjoy walking through the rice terraces and plantations, which also grow a variety of products depending on the time of year such as coffee, jackfruit, tobacco or chilies. You then continue on to a beautiful waterfall where you can have a rest and a swim. Look out for monkeys on the way. It is recommended you wear shoes you don’t mind getting wet. Tetebatu village is also worth visiting as it has a great market.
