Gili Islands
Gili Islands holidays and tours. There are three different sets of Gili Islands off the coast of Lombok. The north west islands are the most popular. Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air. They can be reached by boat from both Lombok and Bali. They are larger islands and get very busy during the tourist season. You can stay over on all islands and spend a few days exploring each island. The snorkeling is very good and there are dive clubs on all islands offering excellent diving. On the south west of Lombok is the Sekatong Gili Islands, there are 13 in total however the 3 best islands are Gili Sudak, Gili Nanggu and Gili Kedis. These islands are a lot smaller and you can only stay over night on Gili Sudak. The islands can be visited from the mainland with a private boat for a day trip and are incredible for snorkeling. The boat guides are excellent and will take you to whichever islands you want and seem to disappear until you need them, then they are on hand to help take photographs or move you on to another island. There is only one dive centre in the area as it is newly discovered as a tourist destination. Due to it being a new area it is so quiet and there are no crowds. It is possible to enjoy the sunset on Gili Kedis with only a handful of people. The third set of Gili are on the east coast and not visited often as they are a bit out of the way. The do offer stunning white beaches and great snorkeling and are a lot quieter than the Gili of the north west.
