Trekking
Trekking in Java is an unforgettable experience, there is so much on offer. There are so many volcanic peaks that make excellent treks with stunning views, Mount Bromo offers a spectacular sunrise. If you want something a bit different you can head to Ijen to see the blue flames an amazing natural phenomenon not to be missed. If you like excitement you can be lowered into Goa Jomblang cave system to explore, see wildlife and get amazing photographs. There are beautiful waterfalls to visit along your treks. Also make sure you don’t miss out on national parks such as Kalibiru with breath taking views.

Baturaden Waterfall

A lovely trek through the jungle to this beautiful site. The waterfall is surrounded by vegetation and the water appears to fall through the jungle canopy. It has a pool at the base and is a beautiful spot.
Dieng Plateau

This walk is along a route filed with turquoise pools of water, and Buddhist temples all the way along, it can be taken at a leisurely stroll enjoying the sights along the way. The view from the top is stunning and worth timing for sunset to get some pictures.
Goa Jomblang

About an hour from Yogykarta this is a great day trip. You will be lowered 60m down the cliff into the cave. The cave system has holes allowing sunlight to stream through. It is ana amazing place to explore. If you would like an adventure this is the place for you.
Kalibiru National Park

A good place to visit in the morning or evening for the best light. The views stretch for miles with various view points along the walk. You can also take part in other activities while here such as a zip line.
Merapi Volcano

Still active this volcano last erupted in 2010. You can only hike to where it is safe, however it is one of the easier volcano hikes and worth a visit. You can see the lava rocks smoking at the top during the day.
Mount Bromo

For the best view start with an early rise and choice of 4WD or trek to the world’s most famous view point at Mt. Pananjakan (2,750 m) on the rim of the Tengger caldera. EYou can then enjoy the sunrise breaking over the volcano cones of Mt. Bromo with active Mt. Semeru in the background. The views are breathtaking. You will then continue to the active Mt. Bromo volcano and climb the 245 steps to visit the crater (2,500 m).
Mount Ijen

Mount Ijen is one of the most famous volcanoes in Indonesia, located in East Java and is known for its beautiful turquoise crater lake which is 175m deep. It stands around 2,769 meters (9,058ft). Another thing that makes Mount Ijen special is the blue flames. The blue flame happens as the sulfur gas adds a high pressure and temperature. Sulfer miners collect sulfer in these areas. A gas mask is needed to visit the blue flames, as they produce a strong smell.
Tumpak Sewu Waterfall

Located in Lumajang eastern Java this waterfall is a must see. The path to reach the base of the waterfall has varied terrain and needs extra care. The trek starts down a track covered with beautiful vegetation via some bamboo stairs. At the bottom you will walk through the stream and cross the river to reach the beautiful waterfall.
