Bena is a very well preserved traditional village. It is still lived in and is amazing to see. The houses are all lined up with thatched roofs. In the centre of the village are megaliths, which are very important to the villagers.
Caci Dancing

Caci dancing is a tradition performed by the Manggarai people. The performance is a fight and a dance at the same time. The whip represents the male and the shield represents the female. It is very impressive to watch and can be seen performed around Flores.

There are many homestays available in villages around Flores, some are easy to access and others you have to hike to such as Wae Rebo. They are a great way to get a good understanding of local life and get to know the country you are visiting through its people.
