Pondicherry

Pondicherry (Puducherry) is an old French colony. The district of Pondicherry (approx. 20 km square) is now an Indian Union Territory and within it is the town of Pondicherry. The town has a long stretch of promenade and behind this is the French enclave with its attractive colonial buildings and behind that is the Tamil Quarter. Along the coast both north and south of the town Pondicherry there are beach resorts.
