Sulawesi Trekking
There is a lot to offer in terms of trekking in Sulawesi, you can travel through villages, rice paddy’s, mountainous areas, and of course rainforest. Treks can last a whole day or you can just go for an hour long stroll. Everywhere you look there is something new and exciting. The wildlife is incredible with so many species only found in Sulawesi and the best way to see them is on foot. The national Parks that protect the animal have been allowed to flourish and are teaming with life.

Lore Lindu National Park

This park is in Central Sulawesi and can take a bit of getting to, but is worth it for the lush rainforest. The forest is full of monkeys, butterflies, exotic birds and so much more. You will really feel off the grid and at one with nature here. A guide can take you on some excellent jungle treks.
Bogani Nani Wartabone National Park

Located in the North this park is easy to access with marked trails, however it is rarely crowded with tourists. The vegetation is thick rainforest and houses a great number of snakes, monkeys, plantlife and a lot more.
Tangkoko National Park

This park is spread out over 9,000 hectres and is located in North Sulawesi. It is home to the famous Black Crested Macaques that are indigenous to Sulawesi. There are a wide variety of trials to provide walks of different lengths and abilities.
Lake Tondano
This is a great day trip if you are in the Tomohon area. The Lake has several trekking routes to observe the beautiful views.
Mahawu Volcano
This volcano offers several walking routes. The walks offer great views of the highlands of Tomohon.
Gorontalo

Gorontalo is a town on the coast of North Sulawesi and is mostly used as the departure point for the Togean Islands, but is worth a visit for a few days to enjoy the treks. You can see waterfalls, hot springs and also go snorkelling on colourful reefs.
