Once an urban noble residence in the heart of Jodhpur, RAAS has been lovingly and painstakingly brought back to life and up to date by the inspired owners. The combination of the old and the new works extraordinarily well. It is young at heart and has a pretty central swimming pool, an enchanting spa, an atmospheric dining room a cool café, and al fresco terraces. It is the only luxury hotel located within Jodhpur’s Old Walled City and the views of the mighty Meherangarh Fort looming above are unbeatable. Being just a stone’s throw from the Clock Tower, you can simply wonder out into the surrounding maze of streets to explore the markets. RAAS is our favourite place to stay in Jodhpur and we think you'll love it...
The exquisite hotel comprises four charismatic old (150 years), restored buildings in Jodhpur’s very own ‘rose-red’ sandstone. This is combined with stylish, contemporary new buildings which have been designed by an acclaimed architect. Strolling away from the excitement, hustle and bustle of the old town and walking under RAAS’ imposing gateway, is like entering a blissfully peaceful, hidden oasis. Almost all the rooms and suites have fort views, some have balconies and some have terraces. They are highly sophisticated in their amenities and the décor is chic, contemporary and understated. The bathrooms are state of the art and the subtle use of colour, combined with stunning design and craftsmanship throughout the property, are truly outstanding.
Garden Rooms have their own private garden, Luxury Rooms have views of the Mehrangarh Fort, Suites come with separate sitting rooms, larger balconies and are located either in the modern block or in the original 18th-century Rajput residence. The Stepwell Suite overlooks the magnificent 1740 built stepwell, and has pristine views of the Blue City and Mehrgangarh Fort from the bedroom. It also has a large outdoor seating area. All rooms are decorated with great flair and care; contemporary, understated and make the most of Jodhpur’s pink sandstone and stunning black terrazzo, with splashes of ‘Jodhpur blue’. They are state of the art and furnished to an exceptionally high degree of modern comfort and sophistication. Light, space and clean lines are the keywords here.
All rooms are air-conditioned with latest eco friendly machines, and have overhead fans, hairdryers, safes, central heating, TV, telephones and superb, attached bathrooms. There are rooms with easy access for wheelchairs and non-smoking rooms. Two bottles of complimentary mineral water per person per day is provided in the bedrooms. All bathrooms have separate showers and cast iron bath tubs and bathrobes.
There are two restaurants, a covered dining room and al fresco, namely the Darikhana Restaurant and Baradari Café by the pool. Both table d’hote and a la carte menus are available, serving continental and Indian food. Room service is available too. There is a fabulous heated swimming pool with plenty of lounging space from which to relax and admire the views of the fort looming above. A Spa also offers a range of therapeutic treatments using natural ingredients. Enjoy!
