A wonderful family run boutique hotel designed on the style of a haveli, Khas Bagh is our recommended place to stay in Jaipur. It is located in a peaceful setting amongst farmland on the outskirts of Jaipur and yet is a mere ten minute drive from Amer Fort. Returning to the lovely swimming pool after a busy day of sightseeing is the perfect complement to your Jaipur experience.
Ransher Singh, a polo player is the owner and host and so a stable of robust polo ponies share the four acre space that Khas Bagh is set on. Anyone with an interest in horses will particularly enjoy their stay here - you can venture out at dawn into the countryside on horseback, cantering through farmlands, fields and hamlets, return to enjoy a morning tea or breakfast with the horses. For willing learners, horse riding lessons can also be taken in Khas Bagh's paddocks.
The rooms and suites are spread over the ground and first floors, each large and opening into a corridor or a verandah always with an access to a terrace or a garden. Eighteen luxurious rooms with old family furniture, painstakingly restored make for a comfortable stay. Every room has spacious jharokas, enclosed overhanging balconies , borrowed from old palace architecture . The beds with 8 inch thick spring mattresses, state of the art bathrooms with rain showers, satellite television , generous wardrobe space and a well stocked coffee, tea trolley ensures that all modern comforts are provided to guests alongside Khas Bagh's old world charm.
Khas Bagh has plenty of space for both outdoors by the pool and in the lawns for alfresco dining or just to relax over a drink or two. Inside spaces include a polo-lounge and bar with Ransher’s trophies and photographs from his polo matches. The dining room is a combination of blues and reds, with antique family furniture serving Indian and Rajasthani cuisine, and on request a selection of continental dishes as well.
The family also reside at the property, including Ransher’s parents and his wife Harsha, a noted journalist with a leading news channel. Interactions with the family provide an interesting insight into local life whilst welcoming you into their homely environment.
