Kanha Earth Lodge lies in 16 acres of natural forest, tucked away in a small hamlet bordering Kanha’s buffer zone. Its unique location, 30 minutes from the Khatia/Kisli park gate, ensures that it is close enough for easy access to the park, but still far enough from the glut of lining hotels in Kanha National Park tourist hub to offer guests a true wilderness experience. guests benefit from an incredible location, outstanding hospitality, experienced team of naturalists, and commitment towards conservation and local communities.
The 12 luxury bungalows with en suite bathrooms and open verandahs have been inspired by Gond tribal architecture and offer environmentally sensitive, low-impact accommodation through their design and use of local stone and waste wood, while the absence of neighbouring lodges or highways creates an ideal setting for nature walks, birding and cycling trips through the surrounding forest.
In addition to jeep safaris, a range of nature activities are offered including birding walks, nature trails and cycling in the forests adjoining the lodge. Village visits and craft workshops with Gond woodcarvers and local potters can be organised on prior request. Painting workshops with Gond painters and artisans can also be organised on prior request. A weekly market is held every Friday at Sarekha village and on Wednesdays at Kumadehi village, both of which make interesting visits.
This is an excellent lodge with comfortable, rustic accommodation, great food and friendly, attentive staff - we recommend highly. The proximity of the lodge to the local villages is a real highlight - we suggest you build in enough time to experience this.
