An 18th-century Dutch colonial residence which has been converted into a small luxury boutique style hotel, the Malabar House oozes character and personality. Based in the historical centre of Fort Kochi, it is close to St Francis Church, the oldest European church in India and within walking distance of the Chinese fishing nets. All rooms are uniquely decorated with a fusion of antiques, art and vibrant fabrics. Many rooms have a sit out overlooking the Parade Ground which always has something interesting going on, be it a cricket or football game, or just the locals ‘hanging out’. Food at the hotel’s Malabar Junction is renowned as being some of the best in South India and outdoor dining in the small courtyard is a delight. The Divine wine and tapas lounge is funky and modern whilst retaining the unique Malabar House style. The property is part of the Malabar Escapes portfolio which includes Trinity, Purity, Serenity and Discovery.
Malabar House was the first property we discovered in Kerala and we still love it today.
