Position: Travel Consultant

Location: Morpeth, Northumberland

Salary: Up to £20,000 depending on experience

No News No Shoes Ltd (NNNS) is a family-run tour operator that is now 15 years old with its headquarters close to Morpeth in Northumberland. The company started by selling specialist holidays to the Maldives but has since expanded to offer India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and, more recently, Indonesia. NNNS offers high levels of customer service, delivering bespoke itineraries based on personal experiences.

Role & Responsibilities:
• Dealing with enquiries by telephone and e-mail
• Identifying and meeting customers’ needs by providing exceptional customer service at all times
• Create itineraries tailored to specific customer needs
• Ascertain availability of accommodation and obtain rates
• Prepare holiday quotations for customers
• Book flights
• Confirm bookings and invoice the customer
• Produce and assemble a pack of final travel documents for despatch to customers
• Processing bookings, finalising tours to ensure everything is in place
• Following up on feedback post-trip
• Maintain customer records (hard and electronic copies)

• Participating in promotional events and activities
• Actively using social media to promote offers, generating customer engagement and sales leads
• Willingness to participate in training appropriate to own development
• Assisting with development of tours, coordinating with overseas suppliers and UK organisations
• Effectively performing administrative duties
• Adding information to website
• General office administration

Person Specification:
The successful applicant will need to have office/administrative experience. They must also have a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel and Outlook). A pleasant telephone manner is essential and the ability to create well worded letters and e-mails. Attention to detail is vital (a flight schedule change that is not noticed or reported to the customer or the agent can ruin a holiday).

We hope that applicants will have a keen interest in travel but would not expect an in-depth knowledge of India/Maldives or the other areas we offer (although this would obviously be an advantage). Staff who have worked for us for more than a year will be given the opportunity to visit the areas that they are selling in order to be able to speak to customers from personal experience.

Because of the office location staff must have their own transport. The office is within the owners' home and often contains the family dog. Applicants must be comfortable with this arrangement.

Experience Required:
• Experience of working within a travel environment selling long haul travel destinations

Salary & Benefits:
• Competitive salary of up to £20,000 depending on experience
• Office working hours: Mon to Fri between 9am – 5pm
• 20 days holiday plus bank holidays
o Plus one extra day per year employed, up to a maximum of 25 days
