No News No Shoes is a UK based Tour Operator organising specialist holidays to the Maldives, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Indonesia. It is owned and managed by Christine Aldridge who is passionate about travel. Together with her husband and two sons, Chris has travelled to many areas of the world in addition to the places that we promote. This is very much a small, family business where personal service and attention to detail really do matter. No News No Shoes is a business born out of a passion for these wonderful countries. Our aim is to provide you with the best quality, personalised holiday that will leave you with the same passion for these fabulous destinations.
No News No Shoes was originally established to fill a perceived gap in the travel market. When planning the family’s first trip to the Maldives, Chris struggled to find a travel company with adequate in depth knowledge of the resorts - and there are more than 100 resorts in the Maldives! Choosing the right resort is key to a successful holiday as they do differ significantly in terms of facilities, character and ‘personality’. Having stayed at over 70 resorts now, we have a great deal of first hand experience to assist in organising appropriate holidays to the Maldives. We love snorkelling and can advise on which islands have the best house reefs, which is definitely a highlight in the Maldives. Both our sons have learnt to dive in the Maldives so we can advise on the best places for that too.
Since the business started in 2004, we have expanded the destinations that we cover, often at the request of existing clients. In addition to the Maldives, No News No Shoes now also offers bespoke holidays to India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Indonesia, either as a stand alone package or combined with one of our other destinations for a two centre holiday. The same company philosophy applies; we have travelled extensively on many occasions throughout these destinations in order to experience first hand the locations and accommodation that we suggest to clients. Although we provide suggested itineraries, there are no set tours – everything we offer is tailor made to suit your individual requirements. Anything is possible.
Sustainable and Responsible Tourism
Here at No News No shoes we are committed to responsible/sustainable tourism and fair trade. We are proud that most of the accommodation we use follows sustainable practices (eg solar power, recycling and plastic bottle avoidance). Many have very strong environmental policies and have won 'green' awards (eg CGH Earth, Malabar House Escapes, The Dune group etc). Our fair trade policies include paying our suppliers promptly and not blocking rooms in the hope that we will get bookings and then releasing them at short notice.
Reusable water bottles are used where possible on tours or long journeys to avoid single use plastics.
Giving back to the community in a positive, constructive way is important to us. We support a number of charitable organisations that are empowering change and improving people’s lives. Many of our tours will include a visit to these organisations, normally through an activity that they offer which directly supports their work. We aim to facilitate a closer connection with the location and its people by staying at small, boutique hotels and homestays and including experiential activities in our itineraries.
We work from a home based office to reduce electricity and transport and recycle all items where possible and work to reduce paper wastage for clients who prefer online documentation.
